The Gypsy Thread 2025 pagan calendar is filled with important dates and times for key pagan celebrations found in the world today. It also includes peak times and dates of the full moons and new moon plus, noteworthy astrological events, zodiac periods, and more. The times and dates are displayed in Mountain Standard Time (USA). January

2nd/3rd    Quadrantids Meteor Shower
This is an annual meter shower, active between the end of December and early January, peaking on the night between the 2nd & 3rd in 2025, expect to see up to 80 meteors per hour if viewing in Mountain Time

6th           Perchta Night – Frau Perchta is a Goddess of Winter, and a leader of the wild hunt. She’s known by many names, including including Frau Faste, Gode, Herke, Stampe, Faste, Frau Holle, Berchta, and the Christmas Witch.

6th           Triple Goddess Day – honors the Triple Goddess in Wicca, representing the Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

13th          Full Wolf Moon in Cancer (3:27 PM, MST) – 24 Can 00′ – The Wolf Moon name comes from Native Americans. In January, the air is cold and thin and the howling of hungry wolves could be heard for many miles. Some of the other names for the January full moon include the Frost Moon, the Hard Moon, the Cold Moon, Greeting Moon, the Center Moon, the Quiet Moon, and the Spirit Moon.

14th          Makar Sankranti/Pongal – primarily a harvest festival, it is a special occasion for giving thanks to nature for giving us grains. It holds a special significance for the farmers. It’s also the first major festival to be celebrated each year in India and is one of the universally celebrated Hindu festivals.

14th          Thorrablot—Norse/Germanic festival honoring Thor, the God of Thunder

18th          Day of Danu – Danu is a mother goddess in the Celtic and Irish traditions. She is the goddess of fertility, creation, water, and the land. She corresponds to the Welsh Ancestor Goddess Don. In the modern neopagan tradition, Danu is seen as both a primordial and a triple goddess.

31st           Disablot – Norse/Germanic pagan holiday honoring female deities, female spirits of ancestors, Disir, Valkyries, or other important women in your life; Frig, Freya, and Ostera are often celebrated.  Also called the “charming of the plow”

February

1st/2nd          Imbolc – The first on the eight annual Wicca/Neopagan holidays. Imbolc has its origins in the ancient Celtic celebrations of spring and welcoming the return of the Sun God. The celebration is focused on the Goddess Brigid (Goddess of Spring, Fertility, and the Dawn.) Imbolc is celebrated from sunrise on February 1 through sundown on February 2.

4th                 Jupiter becomes Progressive (2:450 AM, MST) – Ura 23 Tau 16’D

12th                Full Snow Moon in Leo (6:54 AM, MST) – 24 Leo 06′ – February’s full moon is called the snow moon since most of northern North America was covered in snow during this time. Other names include the Bear Moon, Racoon Moon, Suckerfish Moon, Goose Moon, Bald Eagle Moon, and Groundhog Moon. Names connected to the weather are Storm Moon, Snow Blinding Moon, Shoulder to Shoulder Around the Fire Moon, and Ice Moon.

13th/15th      Lupercalia – This ancient Roman festival honoring the Wolf who suckled Romulus and Remus, the twin founders of the Roman Empire, spanned three days. The debaucherous celebration was filled with nudity, sexuality, ritual sacrifices, feasting, and games, and is thought to be the origin of modern-day Valentine’s Day.

2025 Pagan Calendar

March

1st              Matronalia – The ancient Roman festival of Juno, the birth goddess, celebrated annually by Roman matrons. The historic festival consisted of married women proceeding to the temple to make offerings. Wives received gifts from their husbands and gave a feast for their female slaves. This is believed by some to be the source material for our modern-day Mother’s Day.

10th             New Moon in Pisces – 20 Pis 16′

14th              Full Worm Moon in Virgo (12:55 AM, MST) – 23 Vir 57′ – The Native American tribes would name full moons after events which were prevalent around that time period. In the month of March, melting snow would see insects and beetles start moving. These tiny creatures left winding tracks on the ground, giving off the appearance that many worms had crawled through the area. Other names include the Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, Wind Moon, Sleepy Moon, Seed Moon, the Chaste Moon, and the Death Moon. This moon is also referred to as a Blood Moon.

14th/15th    Holi – Hindu festival of colors, also called the festival of sharing and love is celebrated each Spring.

20th            Ostara – The second of the eight annual pagan holidays. Ostara is a major festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. Named after the Germanic Goddess Ostara or Eostre, who was associated with fertility, rebirth, and new beginnings. The dates Ostara is celebrated change with the timing of the Spring Equinox and can be anywhere between the 19th and 23rd.

20th            Spring/Vernal Equinox – The equinox marks the sun’s crossing above the Earth’s equator, moving from south to north – night and day are equal (3:02 AM, MST) – Affectionately known as the first day of Spring.

29th              New Pink Moon in Aries (5:00 AM, MST) – 9 Ari 00′

29th              Partial Solar Eclipse – visible on the northern east coast of the United States, Greenland, most of Europe, northern Asia, the northern west coast of Africa, and just barely visible in South America.

1st                     Veneralia – An ancient Roman holiday celebrating Venus and Fortuna

6th                   Rama Navami – a Hindu celebration to honor the birth of Lord Rama.

7th                   Mercury becomes Progressive (5:07 AM, MST) – Mer 26 Pis 49’D

12th                 Full Pink Moon in Libra (6:23 PM, MST) – 23 Lib 20′ – The Pink Moon is very specific in its naming. The pink refers to one of the earliest blooming spring flowers, the pink Phlox. Other names are the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Frog Moon, Broken Snowshoe Moon, the Fish Moon, the Hare Moon, and the Egg Moon. It’s also called the Sucker Moon, the Sugar Maker Moon, the Breaking Ice Moon, the Paschal Moon, the Seed Moon, and Growing Moon.

12th                 Venus becomes Progressive (7:02 PM, MST) – Ven 24 Pis 38’D

14th                  Celtic Tree Month of Alder ends

15th                  Celtic Tree Month of Willow begins

15th                 Sigrblot/Sumarsdag – Norse celebration of the first day of summer in some Scandinavian countries.

19th                  Zodiac Period of Aries ends

20th                 Zodiac Period of Taurus begins

21st/22nd      Lyrids Meteor Shower – One of the oldest known meteor showers, starting April 15th and ending April 30th. The peak days in 2025 are the 21st and 22nd. Viewers will see about 18-20 very bright and fast moving meteors per hour.

22nd                Yggdrasil Day – A festival to honor Odin’s sacrifice on Yggdrasil, for wisdom and the knowledge of the runes.

25th                  Fl0ralia – Originally a Roman festival to honor the Goddess Flora, the Goddess of fertility, flowers and flowering plants.

27th                 New Flower Moon in Taurus (1:33 PM, MST) – 7 Tau 47′

30th                 Walpurgisnacht – or Hexennacht [Hẹxennacht]. Originally a Norse ritual practiced thousands of years ago in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. After the long winter, prayers were offered to expedite the coming of spring and ensure fertility for livestock and crops. Also known as the night of the witches.

2025 Pagan Calendar

May

1st             Beltane – The third of the eight annual pagan festivals, Beltane celebrates the first day of summer and open pasturing. It’s origins are from the ancient Celtic people of Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Mann. Beltane is now one of the largest pagan celebrations worldwide, and celebrated with a fire festival.

3rd/4th    Another annual meteor shower, the Eta Aquariids Meteor Shower is usually active between April 20 and May 21 each year. In 2025 the peak viewing night will be between the 3rd and 4th of May where viewers can observe 50 meteors per hour.

9th            Lemuria – Also called Lemuralia. This ancient Roman festival in which the citizens performed rites to exorcise the malevolent and fearful ghosts of the dead from their homes. Three days were planned for the event, however they were not consecutive. The 9th, 11th, and 13th of May.

12th          Full Flower Moon in Scorpio (10:58 AM, MST) – 22 Sco 13′ – The early part of May is when the many dozens of wildflower species begin to bloom. It is also known as the Hare Moon, the Corn Planting Moon, the Budding Moon or Leaf Budding Moon, the Bright Moon, the Blessing Moon and the Milk Moon. Other names are the Planting Moon, Frog Moon, Egg Laying Moon, Grass Moon, Mulberry Moon, Field Maker Moon, and Mother’s Moon.

26th         New Strawberry Moon in Gemini (9:04 PM, MST) – 6 Gem 06′

26th         Savitri Brata – a festival observed by married Hindu women. On that day, married women are typically dedicated to praying for their husbands; wishing them a long, healthy life full of prosperity and welfare.

June

7th/15th          Vestalia – A Roman holiday which dates back to the 7th Century BC, to honor the Goddess Vesta, the Goddess of the hearth, and the burning continuation of the sacred fire of Rome.

9th                    Celtic Tree Month of Hawthorn ends

10th                  Celtic Tree Month of Oak begins

11th                   Full Strawberry Moon in Sagittarius (1:46 AM, MST) – 20 Sag 39′ – The Strawberry Moon gets its name from the Algonquin tribe in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada. It refers to that region’s abundance of ripened wild strawberries which could be gathered as a sweet treat. June’s full moon has also been called the Honey Moon, Rose Moon, Berries Ripen Moon, Green Corn Moon, Hot Moon, Birth Moon, Hatching Moon. Still other names are the Horse Moon, Flower Moon, Planting Moon, Egg Laying Moon, Blooming Moon, and Mead Moon.

20th                  Zodiac Period of Gemini ends

20th                 Litha – the fourth of the eight annual pagan Sabbats. It is also known as Midsummer and Midsummarblot. Litha is the celebration of the Sun on the longest day of the year. The Celts believed that Litha was one of the two annual battles between the Oak King and Holly King, At Litha, the Holly King always wins the battle and the days begin to grow darker until Yule, when the Oak King regains power and days grow brighter.

20th                 Summer Solstice  (June 20th, 8:42 PM, MST) – the longest day of 2025

21st                   Zodiac Period of Cancer begins

23rd                Day of the Lady & Lord of the Sidhe – a day to honor the Fae and other otherworldly beings

24th                 Midsummer is celebrated in Finland & Sweden – originally a pagan ritual for fertility and a successful harvest during the Stone Age. Bonfires were used to keep away any evil spirits. It was said that spirits were free to roam the earth when the sun was turning towards the southern hemisphere.

1st                 Crone Day – Wiccan day of honoring the Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess

4th                Neptune goes Retrograde (3:33 PM, MST) – Nep 2 Ari 11’Rx

6th                 Kupala Night – Kupala Night is very old Slavic pagan fertility rite day dating back to the 12th century. During the celebration,  young couples participate in several rituals related to the day.

7th                 Celtic Tree Month of Oak ends

8th                 Celtic Tree Month of Holly begins

10th               Full Buck Moon in Capricorn (2:38 PM, MST) – 18 Cap 50′ – The July full moon is the Full Buck Moon, as this is the time when male deer antlers begin their rapid growth process, in preparation for the mating season. The July full moon has also been called the Thunder Moon due to the amount of thunderstorms in July. Some of the other lesser-known names are the Hay Moon, the Blessing Moon, Meadow Moon, and the Wort Moon. Still others are the Salmon Moon, the Raspberry Moon, Berry Moon, and Halfway or Halfway Summer Moon.

29th/30th    Delta Aquariids Meteor – This meteor shower occurs between July 28 to August 12. In 2025 the peak dates are July 29th through the 30th with visibility about 25 meteors per hour.

2025 Pagan Calendar

August

1st               Lughnasadh – The fifth of eight annual Sabbats and one of the four primary Celtic celebrations. Lughnasadh honors the God Lugh. a solar deity and warrior God.  This celebration holds significance as the first of the three annual harvest festivals, dedicated to the grain. Each year the first cuttings are used to bake the first fresh loaf of the season and brew the first beers and ales. Bread is an important element in this celebration.

1st               Lammas – A neopagan version of Lughnasadh, focused only on the harvest and not the Gods.

1st               Freysblot – A Norse celebration of thanksgiving for the fruits of the first harvest of the year. A loaf of bread is baked as an offering to the god Freyr. The modern Asatru name of this celebration is Freyfaxi.

4th              Celtic Tree Month of Holly ends

5th              Celtic Tree Month of Hazel begins

8th             Raksha Bandhan – A Hindu festival that focuses on the love and duty between brothers and sisters.

9th              Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius (1:57 AM, MST) – 17 Aqu 00′ – during the month of August, Native American tribes in the Great Lakes area would fish for sturgeon, which happened to be quite abundant at this time of the year. These large fish would be dried and serve a a key food source during the winter months. August’s full moon is also known as the Green Corn Moon, the Fruit Moon, the Barley Moon, the Grain Moon, the Dispute Moon, and the Red Moon. Additionally, the Ojibwe called the August full moon the Blueberry Moon, while the Dakota Sioux knew it as The Moon When All Things Ripen.

11th           Mercury becomes Progressive (1:30 AM, MST) – Mer 4 Leo 15’D

12th/13th  Perseids Meteor shower – One of the brighter meteor showers of the year. They occur every year between July 17 and August 23. In 2025 the peak night will be between the 12th and 13th of August, with about 100 meteors per hour visible. The only concern stargazers have this year is that the moon will be full, making sighting the smaller meteors somewhat difficult.

16th           Krishna Janmashtami – A Hindu festival to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna

22nd          Zodiac Period of Leo ends

23rd           Zodiac Period of Virgo begins

23rd           Vulcanalia – the chief festival of the ancient Roman God Vulcan.

5th           Uranus goes Retrograde (10:51 PM, MST) – Ura 1 Gem 28’Rx

7th            Full Corn Moon in Pisces – (12:10 PM, MST) – 15 Pis 22′ – The full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox is always called the Harvest Moon. It usually occurs in September, but not in 2025. This year September’s full moon is the Corn Moon. It is also called the Nut Moon, the Child Moon, the Autumn Moon, the Falling Leaves Moon, the Mating Moon, the Rice Moon, the Singing Moon, and the Yellow Leaf Moon.

7th/8th  Total Lunar Eclipse – commonly known as a Blood Moon – totality will be visible from Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

21st          Partial Solar Eclipse – visible in Australia, Pacific, Atlantic, Antarctica. A solar eclipse always occurs about two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse.

21st          New Harvest Moon in Virgo (1:54 PM, MST) – 29 Vir 05′

22nd        Zodiac Period of Virgo ends

22nd        Mabon – The sixth of the eight annual Sabbats, Mabon is the second of the three great harvest festivals. During the month of September, key winter-survival foods were harvested and put safely into storages for the cold months ahead. These included apples, onions, potatoes, pears, corn, carrots, turnips, hard squash, cabbage, and many more. There are many scholars who point to Mabon as being the true origin of the modern day holiday known as Thanksgiving.

22nd        Autumnal Equinox: when night and day are equal (September 22nd, 12:19 PM, MST) – the autumnal equinox also marks the beginning of fall, which lasts until the winter solstice

22nd        Haustblot – The Norse fall equinox feast, also referred to as Winter Finding. Like many of our ancient celebrations, this one revolves around the agricultural calendar. Haustblót was a time of harvesting crops and preparing for winter. This ancient Norse Pagan holiday celebrates the end of the harvest season and the balance between light and dark.

23rd         Zodiac Period of Libra begins

2025 Pagan Calendar

October

6th              Full Harvest Moon in Aries (9:48 PM, MST) – 14 Ari 09′ – Every month except for September, October, and sometimes November, the full moons have names that stay the same, regardless of year. Yet, the full moon which comes closest to Mabon (Autumn Equinox) is always called the Harvest Moon. Since moon cycles are 28 days and calendar months are 30/31 days, it’s always changing. The October full moon is also called the Dying Grass Moon, the Sanguine Moon, the Ice Moon, the Freezing Moon, the Migrating Moon, the Travel Moon, and the Blood Moon, even when there is no eclipse. The Harvest moon will be a supermoon in 2025.

10th/11st   Southern Taurids Meteor Shower – one of several annual October meteor showers, seen in 2025 from September 23rd through November 4th, peaking on the night between the 10th and 11st of October. This year, expect to see 5 meteors per hour during the peak night.

13th           Pluto becomes Progressive (8:52 PM, MST) – Plu 1 Aqu 22’D

14th            Vetrablot – Old Icelandic celebration also known as Winter Nights celebrates the bounty of the harvest and honors Freya and the fertility and protective spirits called Disir. Some sources report this event on other dates.

20th             Diwali – One the most important holidays of Hindu, Jainism, and Sikhism. The festival generally symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Diwali is also known as Deepavali, Dipavali, Dewali, Deepawali, or the Festival of Lights. It is celebrated in October or November each year. Diwali celebrations can last for about five days.

21st              New Beaver Moon in Libra (6:25 AM, MST) – 28 Lib 22′

22nd/23rd  Orionid Meteor Shower – In 2025, the Orionid meteor shower will peak on the night between the 22nd and 23rd. This year, expect to see 20 meteors per hour during the peak night. With the moon almost new, this will be one of the darkest nights of any meteor shower this year.

31st            Samhain – The seventh of the eight annual pagan Sabbats, and a celebration of the Celtic New Year. It’s the third of the three great annual harvest festivals, when the last of the row crops, wild herbs, and forage would be gathered and stored. It is also the time when fatted animals would be slaughtered, their meat dried or salted and stored for winter. On Samhain night, the veil which separates the world of the living with the spirit world is thin enough to allow spirits to cross over into our physical world and commune with the living. Samhain is the origin for the modern day holiday of Halloween.

1st                Calan Gaeaf – Welsh celebration of the 1st day of winter, similar to Samhain

5th                Full Beaver Moon (Hunter’s Moon) in Taurus (6:20 AM, MST) – 13 Tau 23′ – During the month of November, beavers would be harvested for their pelts, as they had thick fur, preparing for winter. It is sometimes called the Trading Moon, the Full Sassafras Moon, Frost Moon, Oak Moon, Dark Moon, Fog Moon and the Mourning Moon (the last full moon before the Winter Solstice). 2025’s Full Beaver Moon will be the second Supermoon of the year.

8th/9th        Northern Taurids Meteor Shower – This shower lasts from October 13th through December 1st, with the peak night being between the 8th and 9th of November. Viewers will be able to see about 5 meteors per hour.

9th                Mercury goes Retrograde (12:02 PM, MST) – Mer 6 Sag 51’Rx

11th               Jupiter goes Retrograde (9:41 AM, MST) – Jup 25 Can 09’Rx

11th                Feast of the Einherjar – Asatru celebration honoring the fallen heroes in Valhalla, and in the halls of the other Gods and Goddesses. Some observe this holiday on the 18th of November.

16th              Night of Hecate (Hekate) – A sacred evening dedicated to the goddess Hecate, honoring her wisdom, protection, and guidance through life’s transitions.

16th/17th     Leonids Meteor Shower – The Leonid meteor shower will be active during the month of November, producing its peak rate of meteors the night between the 16th and 17th. The shower is called Leonids because its radiant, or the point in the sky where the meteors seem to emerge from, lies in the constellation Leo. Estimates are that viewers will see about 15 meteors per hour during the peak.

December

4th              Full Cold Moon in Gemini (4:15 PM, MST) – 13 Gem 04′ – Frigid December temperatures across the nation provided the perfect name for this full moon. It is also called the Bitter Moon, the Little Spirit Moon, the Hoar Frost Moon, Big Winter Moon, the Oak Moon, the Wolf Moon, the Singing Moon, the Snow Moon, the Winter Maker Moon, and the Long Night Moon. This is the third Super Moon of 2025.

5th              Krampusnacht – Originally celebrated in Eastern and Northern Europe. Krampusnacht or ‘Krampus night’ is when Krampus, a horned, beastly creature would visit children to scare and punish them for having been naughty that year. Over the last decade, this holiday has grown in popularity and is now celebrated to one degree or another in all of Europe and America with parades of costumed people dressed as Krampus.

10th           Neptune becomes Progressive (5:23 AM, MST) – Nep 29 Pis 22’D

14th/15th  Geminids Meteor Shower – This is one of the greatest meteor showers of the year. In 2025 it will be active from the 4th to the 20th of December, peaking on the night of the 14th/15th. During that night, expect to see 120 bright, slow moving meteors each hour.

17th            Saturnalia – This is the most popular of all ancient Roman holiday’s. The Agriculture God Saturn is honored from the 17th through the 23rd. Many of the traditions of this holiday are source material for modern-day Christmas traditions. These include wreaths, decorating with candles, feasting and the exchanging of gifts.

19th           New Wolf Moon in Sagittarius (6:44 PM, MST) – 28 Sag 25′

20th          Mōdraniht/Mother’s Night – Ancient Germanic festival celebrating female deities, honoring maternal and feminine energies, and paying tribute to the ancestors on the night before the Winter Solstice.

21st           Yule/Yuletide – this is eighth of eight annual pagan Sabbats and the most important of all Norse holidays. It has a duration of 12 nights, starting at sundown on the night of the winter solstice. The Celts and other tribes in western Europe adopted the traditions of Yule,  rare thing, since most celebrations were tied to a region or culture. Yule and it’s elements have been repurposed and used in modern-day Christmas celebrations. Some of these elements are the Yule log, decorating with evergreens including the tree, exchanging gifts, and Odin’s travels through the sky during Yule with a long white beard; a possible precursor for Santa Claus.

22nd/23rd Ursids Meteor Shower – The Ursids meteor shower will be active from the 17th of December until the 26th of December. On the peak night, expect to see 10 meteors per hour.

23rd            Celtic Tree Month of Elder ends

24th            Celtic Tree Month of Birch begins

31st             Hogmanay – A Scottish festival to celebrate the New Year, with some similarity to Christmas.
