6th Perchta Night – Frau Perchta is a Goddess of Winter, and a leader of the wild hunt. She’s known by many names, including including Frau Faste, Gode, Herke, Stampe, Faste, Frau Holle, Berchta, and the Christmas Witch.
6th Triple Goddess Day – honors the Triple Goddess in Wicca, representing the Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
13th Full Wolf Moon in Cancer (3:27 PM, MST) – 24 Can 00′ – The Wolf Moon name comes from Native Americans. In January, the air is cold and thin and the howling of hungry wolves could be heard for many miles. Some of the other names for the January full moon include the Frost Moon, the Hard Moon, the Cold Moon, Greeting Moon, the Center Moon, the Quiet Moon, and the Spirit Moon.
14th Makar Sankranti/Pongal – primarily a harvest festival, it is a special occasion for giving thanks to nature for giving us grains. It holds a special significance for the farmers. It’s also the first major festival to be celebrated each year in India and is one of the universally celebrated Hindu festivals.

13th/15th Lupercalia – This ancient Roman festival honoring the Wolf who suckled Romulus and Remus, the twin founders of the Roman Empire, spanned three days. The debaucherous celebration was filled with nudity, sexuality, ritual sacrifices, feasting, and games, and is thought to be the origin of modern-day Valentine’s Day.

1st Beltane – The third of the eight annual pagan festivals, Beltane celebrates the first day of summer and open pasturing. It’s origins are from the ancient Celtic people of Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Mann. Beltane is now one of the largest pagan celebrations worldwide, and celebrated with a fire festival.
3rd/4th Another annual meteor shower, the Eta Aquariids Meteor Shower is usually active between April 20 and May 21 each year. In 2025 the peak viewing night will be between the 3rd and 4th of May where viewers can observe 50 meteors per hour.
9th Lemuria – Also called Lemuralia. This ancient Roman festival in which the citizens performed rites to exorcise the malevolent and fearful ghosts of the dead from their homes. Three days were planned for the event, however they were not consecutive. The 9th, 11th, and 13th of May.
12th Full Flower Moon in Scorpio (10:58 AM, MST) – 22 Sco 13′ – The early part of May is when the many dozens of wildflower species begin to bloom. It is also known as the Hare Moon, the Corn Planting Moon, the Budding Moon or Leaf Budding Moon, the Bright Moon, the Blessing Moon and the Milk Moon. Other names are the Planting Moon, Frog Moon, Egg Laying Moon, Grass Moon, Mulberry Moon, Field Maker Moon, and Mother’s Moon.

1st Lughnasadh – The fifth of eight annual Sabbats and one of the four primary Celtic celebrations. Lughnasadh honors the God Lugh. a solar deity and warrior God. This celebration holds significance as the first of the three annual harvest festivals, dedicated to the grain. Each year the first cuttings are used to bake the first fresh loaf of the season and brew the first beers and ales. Bread is an important element in this celebration.
1st Lammas – A neopagan version of Lughnasadh, focused only on the harvest and not the Gods.
1st Freysblot – A Norse celebration of thanksgiving for the fruits of the first harvest of the year. A loaf of bread is baked as an offering to the god Freyr. The modern Asatru name of this celebration is Freyfaxi.

9th Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius (1:57 AM, MST) – 17 Aqu 00′ – during the month of August, Native American tribes in the Great Lakes area would fish for sturgeon, which happened to be quite abundant at this time of the year. These large fish would be dried and serve a a key food source during the winter months. August’s full moon is also known as the Green Corn Moon, the Fruit Moon, the Barley Moon, the Grain Moon, the Dispute Moon, and the Red Moon. Additionally, the Ojibwe called the August full moon the Blueberry Moon, while the Dakota Sioux knew it as The Moon When All Things Ripen.

12th/13th Perseids Meteor shower – One of the brighter meteor showers of the year. They occur every year between July 17 and August 23. In 2025 the peak night will be between the 12th and 13th of August, with about 100 meteors per hour visible. The only concern stargazers have this year is that the moon will be full, making sighting the smaller meteors somewhat difficult.

22nd Mabon – The sixth of the eight annual Sabbats, Mabon is the second of the three great harvest festivals. During the month of September, key winter-survival foods were harvested and put safely into storages for the cold months ahead. These included apples, onions, potatoes, pears, corn, carrots, turnips, hard squash, cabbage, and many more. There are many scholars who point to Mabon as being the true origin of the modern day holiday known as Thanksgiving.

22nd Haustblot – The Norse fall equinox feast, also referred to as Winter Finding. Like many of our ancient celebrations, this one revolves around the agricultural calendar. Haustblót was a time of harvesting crops and preparing for winter. This ancient Norse Pagan holiday celebrates the end of the harvest season and the balance between light and dark.

The October full moon is also called the Dying Grass Moon, the Sanguine Moon, the Ice Moon, the Freezing Moon, the Migrating Moon, the Travel Moon, and the Blood Moon, even when there is no eclipse. 10th/11st Southern Taurids Meteor Shower – one of several annual October meteor showers, seen in 2025 from September 23rd through November 4th, peaking on the night between the 10th and 11st of October. This year, expect to see 5 meteors per hour during the peak night.

14th Vetrablot – Old Icelandic celebration also known as Winter Nights celebrates the bounty of the harvest and honors Freya and the fertility and protective spirits called Disir. Some sources report this event on other dates.
20th Diwali – One the most important holidays of Hindu, Jainism, and Sikhism. The festival generally symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Diwali is also known as Deepavali, Dipavali, Dewali, Deepawali, or the Festival of Lights. It is celebrated in October or November each year. Diwali celebrations can last for about five days.

22nd/23rd Orionid Meteor Shower – In 2025, the Orionid meteor shower will peak on the night between the 22nd and 23rd. This year, expect to see 20 meteors per hour during the peak night. With the moon almost new, this will be one of the darkest nights of any meteor shower this year.

31st Samhain – The seventh of the eight annual pagan Sabbats, and a celebration of the Celtic New Year. It’s the third of the three great annual harvest festivals, when the last of the row crops, wild herbs, and forage would be gathered and stored. It is also the time when fatted animals would be slaughtered, their meat dried or salted and stored for winter. On Samhain night, the veil which separates the world of the living with the spirit world is thin enough to allow spirits to cross over into our physical world and commune with the living. Samhain is the origin for the modern day holiday of Halloween.

1st Calan Gaeaf – Welsh celebration of the 1st day of winter, similar to Samhain
5th Full Beaver Moon (Hunter’s Moon) in Taurus (6:20 AM, MST) – 13 Tau 23′ – During the month of November, beavers would be harvested for their pelts, as they had thick fur, preparing for winter. It is sometimes called the Trading Moon, the Full Sassafras Moon, Frost Moon, Oak Moon, Dark Moon, Fog Moon and the Mourning Moon (the last full moon before the Winter Solstice). 2025’s Full Beaver Moon will be the second Supermoon of the year.
8th/9th Northern Taurids Meteor Shower – This shower lasts from October 13th through December 1st, with the peak night being between the 8th and 9th of November. Viewers will be able to see about 5 meteors per hour.

16th Night of Hecate (Hekate) – A sacred evening dedicated to the goddess Hecate, honoring her wisdom, protection, and guidance through life’s transitions.
16th/17th Leonids Meteor Shower – The Leonid meteor shower will be active during the month of November, producing its peak rate of meteors the night between the 16th and 17th. The shower is called Leonids because its radiant, or the point in the sky where the meteors seem to emerge from, lies in the constellation Leo. Estimates are that viewers will see about 15 meteors per hour during the peak.

It is also called the Bitter Moon, the Little Spirit Moon, the Hoar Frost Moon, Big Winter Moon, the Oak Moon, the Wolf Moon, the Singing Moon, the Snow Moon, the Winter Maker Moon, and the Long Night Moon. This is the third Super Moon of 2025.
5th Krampusnacht – Originally celebrated in Eastern and Northern Europe. Krampusnacht or ‘Krampus night’ is when Krampus, a horned, beastly creature would visit children to scare and punish them for having been naughty that year. Over the last decade, this holiday has grown in popularity and is now celebrated to one degree or another in all of Europe and America with parades of costumed people dressed as Krampus.

17th Saturnalia – This is the most popular of all ancient Roman holiday’s. The Agriculture God Saturn is honored from the 17th through the 23rd. Many of the traditions of this holiday are source material for modern-day Christmas traditions. These include wreaths, decorating with candles, feasting and the exchanging of gifts.
19th New Wolf Moon in Sagittarius (6:44 PM, MST) – 28 Sag 25′
20th Mōdraniht/Mother’s Night – Ancient Germanic festival celebrating female deities, honoring maternal and feminine energies, and paying tribute to the ancestors on the night before the Winter Solstice.
21st Yule/Yuletide – this is eighth of eight annual pagan Sabbats and the most important of all Norse holidays. It has a duration of 12 nights, starting at sundown on the night of the winter solstice. The Celts and other tribes in western Europe adopted the traditions of Yule, rare thing, since most celebrations were tied to a region or culture. Yule and it’s elements have been repurposed and used in modern-day Christmas celebrations. Some of these elements are the Yule log, decorating with evergreens including the tree, exchanging gifts, and Odin’s travels through the sky during Yule with a long white beard; a possible precursor for Santa Claus.
